BELPHEGOR
The Unfulfilled Potential
Portfolio. Laziness, Entitlement, Selfishness, Apathy
Worshippers. Slothful, parasites, selfish, mandroks, power hungry
Minions. Purple worms, insane intellect devourers, leeches
Symbol. A wrist slit open and dripping into the waiting mouth of a fat leech
Favored Weapon. Khopesh
Belphegor is the demon lord of what may have been and what could be. His followers are the lazy and gluttonous who don’t care to get things themselves and don’t care about how others get them what they want. They feel that they are entitled to something more than what they have, no matter how much they have. It is said that Belphegor was one of the first of the mandroks, and that they are a race almost as ancient as the Atlazi. When not granted right of civilization by the Atlazi and Kai’relleans, Belphegor lead the war for change. Whether the apathy and entitlement gave birth to the demon lord after he lost his mortality or was born from transgressions against him during his life is unknown. Today the mandroks continue to survive and raid civilized lands for what they believe is rightfully theirs, a strange dichotomy of being too lazy to advance themselves but having more than enough energy to take it from others.
MELUSINE
The Barren Devourer
Portfolio. Cannibalism, Childbirth Death, Infertility, Parental Envy
Worshippers. Gnoph-keh, cannibals, mothers of lost children, bjorngar
Minions. Wendigo, lamia, aswang, fiendish polar bears, fiendish mantises, ghouls
Symbol. A white elk’s skull with canine teeth that drip blood
Favored Weapon. War pick
Worshipped by the bjorngar and their gnoph-keh masters, Melusine is a female demon lord of jealousy and rage. Rumor has it that she was cursed to eat the flesh of her kind when she was unable to overcome the envy of those who could bear children. Others say that this inability came from an unnatural desire to devour her consorts. Either way the demon lord is a sad and insane creature. Cannibals and infertile mothers both seek her guidance, and both commit horrible acts in her name. Wendigo, the powerful and restless spirits of long time cannibals, roam the northern lands seeking ever-more flesh to devour. Melusine herself is generally depicted as having an enormous body, like that of a gigantic snow leopard. Where the head would be is the gorgeous torso of a woman, completely naked and smooth, until you reach where the head should be. Here lies the fleshless, malevolent skull of an elk with razor sharp canines and a maw dripping the rotting blood of its latest meal.
RESHEPH
Legion
Portfolio. Plague, Pestilence, Swarms, Disease, Insects
Worshippers. surikesh, lepers, cultists
Minions. Giant insects, swarms, fiendish rodents, cacodemons
Symbol. A brown locust within a sickly green cloud
Favored Weapon. Blow gun
The southern plains of Atlazan are home to many wild creatures, not the least of which are the surikesh. Worshippers of Resheph, also known as Legion, these dirty creatures seem to do nothing except breed and raise insects. Filthy and disease-ridden beings, these mongoose-like humanoids tend to overrun settlements by sheer number. If repelled the diseases they leave behind tend to take the settlement eventually. It is unsure whether Resheph is one creature or a host of them, as some claim, but nothing he or his worshippers do are half-hearted.
XIPE TOTEC
The Blood God
Portfolio. Blood, Brutality, Warfare, Destruction, Sacrifice
Worshippers. Vampires, barbarians, warmongers
Minions. Kamadan, fiendish carnivores, vampires, stirge
Symbol. A stone altar on which sits a heart about to be impaled by a curved dagger
Favored Weapon. Flails
The jungles of Atlazan are overrun with beastmen who worship Cococelotl, whom they often simply refer to as the Blood God. Raids on outlying settlements are not uncommon with prisoners taken alive for sacrifice to their god upon stone altars where priests feast on the still beating hearts of their prisoners while worshippers drink the warm blood as it drains from the body. The azmotalxi culture is one of warfare, destruction, and brutality. Blood must be given to Cococelotl for continued power and prosperity, and if one is unable to capture that blood their own shall be forfeit.
