The Lowborn Draconians (Kobolds)

Graced with the least amount of draconic blood, but possessing the most fervent of belief in the power of the great Liege Wyrms of old.  Small, sneaky, and scaly; darting among the long legs of other races.  Weaving in and out of crowds and events, the kobolds make their place among the ruckus of larger folk who tend to look down on them in more than just the physical sense.

A Mis-match of Features
Kobolds are, by far, one of the smallest races of Atlazan and the smallest race of the Temtektaggre Empire.  With long, slender limbs and angular features it can be difficult to tell the intentions of one of the short-scales.  Flight or fight, either is equally likely a response and standing just about 3 feet tall either will happen without notice.
Despite their cordial demeanor, kobolds have a much rougher look to them.  Their Liege Wyrm blood gives them beautifully colored scales from blue to bronze and red to silver, but often rough patches of large, oblong scales detract from what could be elegance.  Clothes tend to be tight and practical, with colors that clash between showing off their own coloration and not showing the dirt of work.  It is often said, “judge not a lowborn by scale or cloth as the cleaner the kobold, the more silver the tongue,” as those with good care and taste often manipulate everyone around them.

Proud and Resolute
While many so-called “lesser” races are groveling, pathetic creatures it is not so with the Lowborn.  Kobolds take their draconic heritage very seriously and often respect their elders and ancestors much more than even the Highborns.  Proud of who they are, despite their apparent oppression, these people do their best in whatever position they hold.
Part of the pride held by these people becomes a resolution bordering the line between stubbornness and obsession.  When a kobold puts his mind to something he will pursue it until it is achieved or found to be a lesser endeavor.  They will almost never give up, but are willing to bide their time and make smart, long term plans.  This makes kobolds an often desired (though reluctantly) second hand who will get things done and make the right choices when things can’t be done.

Tightly Knit Tribes
Even in the great urban cities of Temtektaggre, the kobolds of the Empire form tightly knit communities.  Like their ancestors these tribes pay homage to a specific Liege Wyrm, have a tribe name, and chieftain.  Often this leader is born within an especially strong tie to a Liege Wyrm granting him power and stature greater than his peers.  It is said that some can manifest the breath of a dragon as if born to the other classes.
While holding no special political power within the Empire, a tribal leader holds a great power over the local Lowborn.  It does, however, do local governors well to become friendly with these leaders.  Decisions of the chieftain are decisions of the tribe and an individual is likely to put those goals above his own if called to.  Because of this, trouble is easily made with no single individual able to be punished for anything specific.  This is likely a major cause of the racism directed towards them by draconians and the Highborn.
