The Rybarik

Considered the least civilized of all the feathered-folk, the rybarik are a race of nomads who prefer to avoid getting too comfortable with the comforts of civilization and technology.  While they do not shy away from what can be made or found in ancient ruins, they do not rely on it.  Training is very important and while they do not practice the self-induced hardship that magari do, rybariks believe you should be prepared for the potential of hardship.

Wandering And Prepared
Rybarken culture is resolute in getting back to what they believe the roots of civilization were.  They focus on the aspects of sentient culture that lie at the roots.  Understanding nature, where and when to get food, how to avoid harsh weather and harsh seasons, and the community derived from building and taking down temporary dwellings.
They admit that civilization, cities, trade, and comfort develop naturally from this life.  Using intelligence and experience to overcome these things.  A rybarik will tell you that most of the civilized races have forgotten this, that they take what their ancestors built for granted.  It is their way of life to live a nomadic life at the cusp of modern civilization, constantly reminding themselves of where all races came from and what they could be driven back to with enough calamity.

Technology Meets Old Ways
Because of their interesting lifestyle, the rybarken culture is full of seeming contradictions.  A rybarik may have a flint and steel, or even some tindertwigs, but often insist on the challenge of starting a fire with natural materials around the camp.  Tools like these are to be used only when needed.  Such things are costly and though they can make money, it is not something they keep in abundance, nor do they often have the time or ability to obtain extra supplies for trade.

Honorable But Vicious Warriors
Within the rybarken society, challenges of physical training and combat are regular and constant.  To keep fit and ready, competitions are regularly held.  To outsiders, these may seem like brutal and dangerous events.  Injuries are not uncommon among rybariks after such competitions due to the stubborn refusal to give up.  In the rybarken mind, giving up is the equivalent of death.  To give up on finding food or warmth in winter is to freeze,  to give up on fresh water and shade during the summer is also to die.  In no challenge should you ever think about giving less then your all.
Rybariks are also incredibly honorable.  Unfair advantage is unacceptable, and handicaps will often be offered to those challenging better opponents.  Often, though, such is refused as nature would provide no such help.  No better friendships can be found among the rybariks when they have trained each other, challenged each other, fought each other bloody, and shared a drink afterwards.  The only stronger bond is forged when two such friends suffer a near death disaster.
